Experience Southern Dirt Summits As a member of the 5 person core team I organized 3 workshops. The goal was to bring off-highway vehicle enthusiasts and activists from across the south east together to share information and experiences. Workshops were held in Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi. We secured location, selected speakers, promoted the workshops and held an auction and procured grants to cover funding. The North Carolina Off-Highway Vehicle Workshop As an Organizer and Presenter I worked with the North Carolina Trails Coordinator and NC Trails Committee Members to develop a workshop aimed at Parks and Recreation Directors and Land Managers which covered information on providing OHV opportunities in their communities. Development, management, funding and other resources were a few of the topics covered. Dirt Pilot Magazine Started by reporting on OHV events and providing photo's then worked up to being Co-Editor. This was a regional magazine that provided communications for OHV enthusiasts across the southeast. Covering, club events, harescrambles, enduros, ATV and dual sporting events. While also keeping readers up to date on the political issues facing motorized recreation. Printed Materials Developed and produced "Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation in North Carolina" a 20 page booklet covering the development and management of OHV recreation. Promoting safe and responsible use and management of motorized recreation. (Funded by the Motorcycle Industry Council) "Smokey Mountain ORV Club's Managing OHV Recreation in the Nantahala National Forest" A 75 page booklet covering the management of OHV recreation on the Nantahala National Forest located in North Carolina. Covering statistical data, the desired experience, opportunities, the economics of motorized recreation, partnerships, education, and volunteers. (Funded by the Motorcycle Industry Council) "North Carolina Recreation - The Economics of OHV's" An 8 slide, full color, overhead presentation covering the economics of OHV recreation, the economic impacts on communities from tourists and new business development, available grants and other funding. It also includes data and the growth of the industry from enthusiasts participation, to production of machines. Developed for the NC OHV Workshop for the Division of Parks and Recreation workshop held in Raleigh. Hand outs were also provided.
